“Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island”: Sandra Bullock Regrets Starring In $164m Sequel Of Keanu Reeves Movie After John Wick Star Turned It Down

Having worked on just two films together, Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock’s Speed (1994) is undeniably thrilling to watch, even to this day, while The Lake House (2006) – not so much!

While the two actors are known to select projects that can communicate with the audience through a mesmerizing screenplay, they were not very fond of a particular film during the initial days of their careers.

Reeves found his strength in franchise films like The Matrix and John Wick, while Bullock went after one-off character-driven films like The Proposal, While You Were Sleeping, and 2013’s Gravity.

Both actors, over the years, have built a strong portfolio of films. But, Bullock, finally gets vocal about not being able to avoid the sequel to her breakthrough film that dented her career.

Sandra Bullock Considers Speed 2: Cruise Control A Big Mistake

Graduating from driving an unstoppable ticking time bomb of a bus to a cruise liner in the ocean turned out to be a major regret for Sandra Bullock.

According to her, the sequel couldn’t match the exhilarating sequences of the original and could have landed her in a major career crisis, along with that cruise liner.

While promoting The Lost City (2022), she opened up in a conversation with TooFab

Fans may have dearly missed the on-screen chemistry between Reeves and Sandra Bullock, but the former was lucky to not be a part of it.

Keanu Reeves Could Not Digest The Sequel’s Screenplay

According to Reeves, nothing could beat the thrill and heart-pounding screenplay of the original and he had to turn down the sequel as it lacked passion.

After a decade, he collaborated with Sandra Bullock again in The Lake House but the Speed chemistry was nowhere to be found.

During his appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Reeves shed light on why the sequel didn’t work as people expected.

Director Jan De Bont, now 79, is probably too old for a threequel but as Hollywood is witnessing the resurrection of old and abandoned franchises, we won’t be too surprised if Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves decide to replicate the magical formula after three decades.
